How are Latinos represented in the US?

What message(s) (consistent or conflicting) are being sent about this cultural group through these artifacts? Illustrate how the artifacts convey the message(s).
Some of the messages that are being sent about this cultural group through these artifacts is that Latinos in the US are different than "we" are, see the world differently, react differently, and shouldn't be given the privileges that "we" have or be given a lower status. There is a secondary message of untapped power and potential, especially as seen through their potential to change voting and its results, especially with the upcoming Presidential Election.

How might this message(s) impact how a child from this cultural group is viewed and treated in the classroom? Why is it important for teachers to examine how cultural groups are represented in the media, curriculum, and policy?
The initial message might make the child feel ostracized and like they don't fit in at the school or where they live. The secondary message could help Latinos to see themselves as a part of something bigger, with great potential. It is important for teachers to examine how cultural groups are represented in the media, curriculum and policy because those are the influences that may be holding back minority students or influencing how others see them. Teachers also need to examine how cultural groups are represented because those representations may create biases that influence how they treat the students in their classroom. Also, it is important for teachers to examine how cultural groups are represented in the curriculum because of how students and parents may react to that representation, especially if it is one-sided or inaccurate.
